Senior Field Representative

 

 

Summary

Responsible for sourcing and procuring the highest quality raw material, at the lowest costs, while maintaining professional business relationships with key raw product suppliers. Monitors and reports industry activities: monitor crop development, open market pricing, competitor’s activities, company storages, and overall industry developments.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Manages and oversees daily, weekly and monthly raw material sourcing; proper quality, volume to match daily production raw material requirements. This is communicated and coordinated through Raw Material Scheduler and Plant Operations.

 

2.      Develop in coordination with Idaho Raw Procurement Manager a strategy to procure through contracting, or open purchase procurement the proper volume, processing category, and variety of raw material to achieve the highest potential raw material utilization.

 

3.      Maintain professional business relationship with key raw product suppliers, especially process grade suppliers, while developing new supplier business relationships. Work with suppliers to develop long term supply strategies.

 

4.      Communicates on daily basis with key operational, and maintenance staffing raw material supply opportunities. Attend daily Tier # 3 management meetings

 

5.      Oversees the management, and storability of company owned potatoes. Oversees the storability of grower owned potatoes, or other duties as assigned.

 

6.      Monitors industry developments and opportunities.  Monitors crop development, market supply, pricing, and competitor’s activities. This is all communicated to Idaho Raw Material Procurement Manager.

 

Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of “What We Stand For” and “The Basic Principles.”

 

Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                

 

Directly supervises employees in the Raw Material Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                                               

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferably in Ag Economics or Ag Business and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Language Skills                                            

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

 

Mathematical Skills                                                  

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

 

Reasoning Ability                                                     

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

 

 

Computer Skills                                            

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic inventory, and movement tracking in Accounting software; Needs ability to communicate effectively with Contact Management systems; Needs ability to communicate with suppliers and factory operations through Internet software; Needs ability to perform basic inventory and scheduling functions with Inventory software; Needs basic ability to develop spreadsheet documentation in a Spreadsheet software and Needs basic ability to write professional communications in Word Processing software.

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current driver's license and capability to procure agents purchasing license.
