SANITATION SUPERVISOR

 

 

SUMMARY:  Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in duties concerned with sanitation programs in food processing plant.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following and other duties may be assigned. 

 

.           Inspects equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and USDA standards

 

.               Directs sanitation crew in proper sanitation process and pest control procedures

 

.               Directs the cleaning and sanitation of production equipment and work areas

 

.               Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions

 

.               Confers with manager and production supervisors on sanitation problems and recommends changes in work practices to improve sanitation standards when necessary.

 

.               Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

 

.               Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations and processes

                taken to correct deficiencies.

 

.               Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

 

.               Initiate or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve their work goals and to create good teamwork among sanitation workers.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Position has supervisory responsibilities over two lead persons.   Directly supervises a crew of 12 to 15 employees.  Is responsible for the direction,

coordination and evaluation of the crew.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with

the Company policies and procedures.  Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning and

directing work, performance appraisals, and discipline and complaint resolutions.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent two-year

college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or

equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,

operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports

and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of

measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and

percents.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out

instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving

several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to define problems, collect data,

establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly require to walk, stand, use hands to

finger, handle or feel.  To reach with hands and arms, to climb, balance stoop, kneel or crouch.

To use hot water and lift 40 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical

parts.  The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, exposed to fumes or airborne

particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
