Manufacturing Manager

 

This position is accountable for production, packaging and warehousing management including the planning and execution of activities necessary to meet product production volumes established by sales requirements, and contributing to overall company profits through management of high standards of quality, safety, cost control,employee involvement, and “Lean Thinking” in support of Continuous Improvementinitiatives.

This position plays a keyrole in providing the high volume, product flexibility, and cost base necessary for the company to maintain a successful and competitive position in both beans and potato granules markets.

 

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

Manage operations by demonstrating excellent judgment and the ability to solve complex problems needed to meet each customer requirement, incorporating high standards of quality, safety, and cost control.

Leads a team ensuring the ongoing coaching, development and training of team members. Provides both positive and constructive feedback, process performance appraisals in a timely manner, while facilitating a work environment that empowers and involves all employees.

Administers an annual operating budget and effectively manages within guidelines to achieve fiscal goals. Manages operations by making decisions needed to set and maintain high performance standards that meet all outside agency regulations standards. Prioritizes all projects assigned and be able to delegate appropriately to accomplish strategic direction and set goals.

Manages product quality by adherence to product and packaging specifications, GMPS and Sanitation Guidelines, FM prevention, inline routine sanitation, area sanitation and tool inspection. Participates in customer contacts via customer complaint responses and customer visits.

Supports improvement initiatives through the proactive use of Lean Principles and the effective application of plant resources.

Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of “What We Stand For” and “The Corporate Principles.”

Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.

Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.

SupervisoryResponsibilities                 

Directly supervises 5 to 6 employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Educationand/or Experience                 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and five to ten years related experience and/or training required.  Chemical Engineering degree is preferred.

 

LanguageSkills                 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability towrite reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and thegeneral public.

 

MathematicalSkills                 

Ability to work with mathematical conceptssuch as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

ReasoningAbility                 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

ComputerSkills                  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
